Our approach

Centre ASSAL maintains a strong academic and scientific activity. Every surgical intervention is rigorously documented and followed longitudinally using validated clinical assessment tools, allowing objective evaluation of functional outcomes over time. These data are collected within a Registry approved by Swiss Ethics.

This scientific approach aims to continuously improve the quality of care by relying on both objective and subjective patient data, collected through standardized and validated questionnaires (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures, PROMs). The insights gained from these data directly contribute to optimizing patient management. By participating in these registries, patients become active partners in the advancement of medical knowledge.

Members of the Centre ASSAL team regularly publish their work in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and contribute to the authorship of reference textbooks in foot and ankle surgery.

Regular critical literature review sessions (Journal Clubs) are organized, fostering evidence-based practice and collective reflection on the latest scientific data.

Centre ASSAL is also the originator of the Ortho Foot Club, founded over ten
years ago by PD Dr Mathieu Assal. This scientific meeting, held every six weeks, brings together foot and ankle orthopedic surgeons from French-speaking Switzerland to discuss current clinical topics, strengthening knowledge exchange and regional excellence in patient care
