Total ankle replacement (TAR) is a demanding procedure requiring specific expertise. Patients of the Centre ASSAL can benefit from the experience of two internationally renowned specialists in this field, Dr. Mathieu Assal and Prof. Xavier Crevoisier, who have worked together since 2005 at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaure Vaudois (CHUV) and the Hirslanden Clinique La Colline. Together they perform a substantial number of the TAR procedures done in French-speaking Switzerland.
Diagnosis
To eliminate the persistent pain caused by chronic inflammation of the ankle joint (arthritis), replacing the damaged joint and cartilage with a prosthesis helps to restore mobility.
Surgical procedure
TAR will make patients more comfortable in cases where conservative treatment has failed to relieve their pain.
