Fracture

Foot and leg fractures range in severity, from a simple bone bruise to complete displacement of a bone or dislocation of a joint.

Cause

Most fractures are caused by accidents, from a simple fall while skiing or cycling, to more serious incidents, such as a car or motorcycle crash. In these cases, the bones must be properly re-aligned and immobilized to ensure optimal healing. Other simpler fractures may stem from excessive overuse of the lower leg or foot. These are called stress or fatigue fractures.

Treatment

Some fractures can be treated without surgery. Our team is highly experienced in such conservative (non-operative) treatment. More severe fractures require surgical (operative) care. Some procedures can be performed using computer-assisted surgery.
